for not overcoming ·2026

The work "For Not Overcoming" examines landscapes of military sites and weapon manufacturers across south-east Lower Saxony, GE, following indicators of destruction found between hills, ponds, and the heath — a landscape idealized under National Socialism.

An obstacle wall from common military training grounds serves as both backdrop and frame for a video installation composed of LEDs sewn onto fabric. Rather than perceptually replicating these environments, the work consists of altered acoustic and optical methods. Its surface references billboard panels, interrogating how crisis production sites are visually represented.

These landscapes are narrated through distortion and dissolution, rehearsals for war under conditions of safety and national certainty. Images dissolve into ambience, blurring areas marked by gradual destruction while obscuring the aggressors. War preparation continues on bodies and infertile soil. Ground like the heath that holds the memory of women forced into weapons production in 1944, who resisted through boycotts, manufacturing destruction used against people, land, and livelihoods.
